Post-doctoral researcher

Jan Köpping is a post-doctoral researcher in the project “Negation and Cancellation” (A1). Before that, he as worked with Prof. Dr. Dolf Rami in the DFG-funded project “Quantification, existence-entailing predicates and existential import”  at the university of Bochum. He was a long time member in the department of linguistics at the Goethe-University Frankfurt/Main, where he first got his Magister degree in philosophy in 2010 and his Phd in germanic linguistics in 2019 with a work on the formal semantics of personal pronouns. He also spent a semester in the philosophical department at the Georg-August University Göttingen.
His research interests lie in the philosophy of language and compositional semantic in general, and in dynamic semantic systems in particular. Apart from working on pronouns, he am also interested in questions concerning the parameters of evaluation (and their formal representation), the ontology of possible worlds semantics, two-dimensional logic, and questions concerning  the connection between existence and quantification.
